Party at the Beer Factory!

Posted on 15th September 2008 by Juice Box

The home town show has come and gone, and the party at the beer factory was a major success. I think I saw one million smiling faces (and I’m pretty good with numbers and counting and such). The parade couldn’t have been more fun either, there was wierd bikes, great costumes, and a fun strech of road where the come-ers got to high five the go-ers in a direct pass up Mountain st. (I think it was Mountain, I’m from out of town, I not really sure).
Then the party started and the it was awesome. The fine folks from Re-source had a bunch of games set up, and there was three stages (the third acoustic stage was a real treat, a big soothing and acoustic slap on the back for everyone who performed there). And the bike pit, man the bike pit, that was something special. We had great riders and bad, we had stunning performances of strength and skill, and we and horrible performances of clumsiness and carnage, we had fun (and I mean Fun, you know, with a capitol F).
March Fourth (get it Fourth (as in the date) not forth (as in moving forward), its a play on words. One time I knew this marching band that liked to test the phonetical and definitive limits of words/word, and I loved that about them) blew up. Those folks get people to shake it, and man did people shake it in Fort Collins. Out of the one million smiles I saw, I bet 450,000 of them were during that set (dancing and smiling go hand in hand you know).
Anywho, what fun. I am glad I was apart of it, and Fort Collins, I am really glad you were apart of it.

See you next year,

Juice Box

And the bikers of Fort Collins rejoiced!

Bikes were streaming

Posted on 8th September 2008 by Ms Mel

If you weren’t one of the thousands who participated on bike at New Belgium’s hometown Tour de Fat, then you might have been one of the 10,000 who logged onto the live stream at newbelgium.com.
No?

Well, here’s a taste of what you missed:

New Belgium’s hometown throw-down Tour de FAT!

A big shout out to the 7,000+ costumed fans and freaks that rallied in the mack-daddy of all Tour de Fat’s yesterday! Rather than repeat what this good man, aka Josh the Rasta-tire-ian wrote, I’ll just send you to his bikin’ blog. Check it out for a great photo wrap-up. Long live the long parade of bikes!

I wanna trade my car for a bike in Fort Collins

Posted on 4th September 2008 by Ms Mel

For twelve years me and my car, the Pooch, have been inseparable. We have traveled the Midwest, the mid-Atlantic, the West, and points in-between. She has been my only car and I her only owner.

For several months I have been debating the merits of buying a new car, one that handles the mountains and difficult terrain better than a Pontiac Sunfire. But when it comes down to it, I don’t want to deal with car and insurance payments, gas purchases, and finding a parking spot on the street in front of my apartment (which is often nearly impossible). I thought to myself, why not go car-less? I could give it a try for at least a year to see how difficult it would be to solely rely on my own body to get me around, mass transit, and carpooling. And then I remembered the Tour de Fat, and its bike trade.

So, I, a native Michigander who, in a former life, spent 6 1/2 years car commuting to downtown Detroit, submit my application for the Tour de Fat car/bike trade.

Thanks!
Jenny B
